Modern encryption improves email deliverability

We strongly recommend only to use encrypted IMAP with an SSL certificate for best results. Due to legacy applications (such as scanners and printers) we still allow non-encrypted emails. Encrypted email transport not only protects your emails from being spied on, but also improves deliverability as most major email providers such as Google and Microsoft will lower reception priority or outright reject unencrypted emails.

Generic settings

Mail server username

username@domain.ca

Incoming mail server

mail.domain.ca

IMAP: To connect via IMAP securely over SSL/TLS, use port 993 (TLS is the best).

Outgoing mail server

mail.domain.ca

(server requires authentication)

Supported outgoing mail protocols

SMTP: To send messages via SMTP securely over SSL/TLS, use port 465 (TLS is the best).

Caution: Using POP3 transport can be dangerous as default settings delete emails after downloading to a device. This causes a situation where emails are not synchronized, but instead live uniquely on the device that downloaded it. If your laptop dies in this scenario, so do your emails.
